Stephen stared at the anomaly and sighed. He'd known from the start they'd be trouble, but seeing extinct animals and witnessing the past had been irresistible.

He'd been unimpressed by the thought of the military being involved, shooting first rather than listening to reason. Of course, that was before he'd met the bloody fit Captain Tom Ryan.

Shared experiences and dangers first led to friendship, quickly followed by snogging and some of the best sex Stephen had ever had.

But Ryan had died in the past.

Helen claimed she'd changed the past, now Stephen would try.

He needed Ryan back.

Poor Stephen! It's already sad that he has lost Ryan, but changing the past? That won't end well.

Definitely poor Stephen. This isn't set long after Helen telling Nick about her and Stephen, so the poor boy is suffering. But it probably won't end well.
