Title: Playing The Outsider
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For the P100 challenge 247: The Odd One Out. Part of my Dreams Of Yesterday drabble series and companion to Earning Respect.
James knew that some, maybe most, of the group considered him a waste of their precious resources. He had seen the contemptuous glares when he had needed several attempts to learn a simple task. Unlike Abby, whose warmth and skills made her valued by the group.
James knew he'd be eagerly accepted if he revealed his abilities. He was actually highly trained in several survival skills – far better than most, if not all, of the group. But he didn't trust them. He was happy to be considered the outsider, it gave him an edge if their good relations turned sour.
