“Run!” Abby screamed as she swung the branch at the creature. “Take the cub and go.”
“I'm not leaving you.” James wasn't one to run and leave his people in danger. He looked around for a weapon of his own before spotting several rocks. They looked about the right size and he tossed one experimentally in his hand.
James grinned as his first rock had the creature shaking its head. His second throw had it prancing nervously. It turned tail and ran, obviously in search of an easier target, when Abby attacked it once more as his third rock hit.
