James held Stephanie's hand and watched her sleep. He rubbed at his tired eyes and bit back a yawn.

“James, go home and get some sleep.” Steff's voice sounded so weak and tired it re-broke James' heart once more.

“I'm fine.”

“Of course you are.” James shifted nervously under her intense glaze. “I want you to promise me something.”

“Anything.”

Steff smiled softly. “Find someone new to love.”

James shook his head. “Never.”

“James. Please, don't hide from life. Live it for me.”

James dropped his head, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall. “I love you. Only you.”
