James sighed as he watched Jess work and gossip and moon over Becker. Everything about her was wrong. She was too young for this work. Her clothes were too bright and definitely too short. He should have fired her for letting the Dracorex escape and letting Anderson take the blame.

But...

Jess reminded him so much of Stephanie. Not that she was the slightest bit like his Steff, of course. Except for her love of life and her refusal to give in. How she would always find a way and never admit defeat.

James couldn't bring himself to fire her.
