Title: Behind The Façade
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For the P100 challenge 207: Cold Blood. Part of my Dreams of Yesterday drabble series. Um, would it surprise anyone if I said it was angsty? Thanks to Fred for looking it over for me.
James examined his image in the mirror critically. The only visible change he could see was the haunted look in his bloodshot eyes.
He'd just have to make sure he snapped at and terrorised his staff.
A bitter snort escaped.
No one would look at him, no one would notice his pain.
Why should they? He'd spent his entire career making sure everyone thought he was a ruthless, heartless bastard who viewed every disaster dispassionately.
Why would they see through that image to the pain that had ripped his heart out and left him bleeding as he struggled to cope.
