“Jo has invited us to tea.”

“Tea?”

“Tea and cakes.”

“She did say she’d invite us around when we met her in the park.”

“She did.”

“I don’t understand, James. What is your issue with going to Jo’s?”

“She had invited all of us.”

“James? Am I missing something?”

“All of us, Nick. You. Me. And Shadow.”

“Oh fuck.”

“Precisely.”

“We could tell her we are busy?”

“Every day for the rest of our lives?”

“Good point. How would we explain why Shadow can’t come?”

“We can’t. Not every time.”

“Then what?”

“Let me think about it.”
