Lyle considered his lover and tried to decide whether to fold or bet. A Straight wasn’t the worst hand, it just wasn’t a great one.

Lester raised an eyebrow at him before tossing chips in, even worse, he raised.

Too much rode on this hand. If he folded, he’d lose one item of clothing, if he lost… well, Lester would win the game.

Lyle’s eyes widened when Lester smirked and laid his card down one by one. “Three kings? That was all you had?”

“It’s called bluffing, my dear boy.”

“I would’ve beaten that.”

“You folded. Now, pay the price.”

A/N 2 – Three wise men is slang for a hand of three kings
