Lester sighed softly as he knelt to place the blood-red roses on the grave. He stood with bowed head, trying to come to terms with what had happened. One whole year and he still wasn't sure how he felt.

Grief that she was dead fought with the feeling of relief that she was no longer part of his life.

But even in death, he couldn't escape the spectre of Christine Johnson in his life. She had liked to cause him pain when she was alive. She would have been pleased to know she was still doing the same in death.
