A/N 2: Set in my Cry Wolf series (#22). All you need to know is that Helen’s captured and Lester is a disguised neo-Troodon.



I saw movement out of the corner of my eye.

Small.

Fast.

Prey.

I barely suppressed the instinct to strike as I watched the rat scurry away.

I turned back to find Helen's head tilted to one side as she considered me curiously. “I wouldn’t recommend eating it.”

“Oh?”

“They put poison out for them.”

“Why would they do that?”

“It’s a rat.”

I shuddered slightly, noticing Helen’s gaze sharpen at my reaction. Not that I cared what she thought she knew. It was this careless disregard for other species which had factions of my people clamouring to eradicate humanity.
