A/N: For P100 prompt 863: The End. Angsty?
The tap-tap-tap of Lester’s cane echoed in the corridor, empty save for memories and ghosts. He paused occasionally as he recalled events both joyful and full of sorrow.
Finally, he re-entered the atrium and was gathered into his lover’s embrace.
“Ready, James?”
Lester took one final look at his life’s work, at the task he’d gained – re-gained according to Cutter – his knighthood now the anomalies were no longer a threat. “Take me home.”
They paused outside once Lester had locked the ARC doors for the last time; taking a moment to reflect and say a final farewell to those lost.
