A/N: For P100 prompt 860 - At the Coast. Set in my Smokescreen 'verse and follows on from Best Laid Plans.
James lounged on a beach towel on the sand, his back against a slipway, and watched as their children played. He'd lost count of the number of sand castles made and then demolished as they fought mock battles. He had helped build – and destroy – a number of them, but had refused to be buried in the sand... and Chrissie had thankfully distracted the trio with icecream before they could pester.
He smiled as Chrissie settled back against him and wrapped an arm around her to hold her tight. All in all, he couldn't think of anywhere else he'd rather be.
