I aimed Vera at the slowly widening gap in the door, waiting for the precise moment to fire. Time seemed to slow as I watched more of the grey arm push into the room.

So many things I could have, that I should have done when I still had time, when I still had… I shook my head, scattering those thoughts of a future I knew I would never see.

I needed to concentrate on the present, not on impossible dreams. Each Predator I killed would be one less left to breed and hunt those who would survive this night.
