James took a deep breath of country air and smiled as he took in his surroundings

“James!”

“Coming,” He muttered around the car keys clenched between his teeth, knocking the boot closed and waiting for it to lock automatically, before he followed the laughter. He glanced at his wife as she sat on a picnic blanket by the stream.

“Don’t drop anything, dear.”

He muttered again around the keys but knew he’d receive little help, Chrissie was still making him pay for her humiliation and the kids were too busy looking for frogs.

So much for a relaxing Bank Holiday.
