Title: Hubris
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester, (Minister (OC), Hilary Becker)
Rating: 18
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For P100 prompt 831: Endangered Species. Follows (but also prequel to) Last Night and Three Times The Charm.

I huddled in the corner, Vera beside me, and thought back over the past few weeks, of how hubris had made humanity an endangered species.

I recalled the meeting with the minister, my heart stopping as I found a pair of bloody future predators flanking him like some Praetorian guard. He had dismissed my fears about them getting lose, echoing Leek’s belief.

Power mad, both of them.

I still remember the look on the minister’s face when the red lights died, not that he had lived long to regret his mistake.

Indeed, I had only survived due to Becker’s presence.

Well, he is the minister.

Lester was not having a good day and was very glad Becker was around.

A few idiots always believe they can control nature until it is too late. Good for Lester to keep Becker around.

Definitely, and the minister was a grade 1 idiot. Lester says Becker is occassionally useful.

Thanks for reading.
