Primeval Drabble: Tick, Tock
Mar. 5th, 2023 05:13 pmTitle: Tick, Tock
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For P100 prompt 826: Tick, Tock. Set in my Cry Wolf verse and #13.
I was coming to the conclusion that the mammals were… somehow damaged. They were obsessed with time, something they had invented. I had no idea how they managed to accomplish anything when they’d traded their instincts for that mechanical taskmaster.
I was thankful my own people hadn’t felt the need. The sun rose and set, work was completed, without the need to divide the day into arbitrary units or invent a tickling monstrosity to record it.
I certainly had come despise the clock in my office, my instincts denied to that bloody ticking clock and the mammal’s enslavement to it.
