A/N: For P100 prompt 766: Back to Square One. For the lazy bingo prompt: Rewriting History. IDK what it is, except probably dark.
Helen stepped through the anomaly into the future and smiled at the greenery growing all around her. Maybe this time she’d succeeded, maybe this time they’d… but that thought died when she realised she wasn’t outside.
Helen quickly located a window before her shoulders slumped in defeat as she stared down at the roiling black clouds beneath her.
One again they had failed her.
She retrieved her notebook and crossed yet another failed species from her list. But she wouldn’t admit defeat, no, it was time to start again.
One of them had to be better caretakers of the Earth.
