The tension left James as he pottered about the kitchen, he’d always loved cooking. Smiling as he recalled helping his gran, starting on the simpler tasks before progressing to cooking the entire meal when her arthritis prevent her helping.

He remembered University, turning cheap and bland ingredients into tasty meals for his friends. It had been on one such occasion that he’d meet his wife… ex-wife.. His smile dropped, after the divorce it had seemed pointless to cook for one.

The doorbell brought James from his maudlin thoughts, no time to dwell on the past when a new future beckoned.

Glad you liked it. I think it had to end with a happier James. Good question, as it is Lester/Stephen month we could say Stephen, but really, whoever would make James a very happy man.
