James couldn't stop the low whimper he uttered as he saw his mate. Nick looked so pale and James was at his side in a heartbeat, holding his hand in a fierce grip.

Gently running his fingers through Nick's hair, James pressed his nose against his lover, the familiar scent serving to calm him slightly.

His every sense alert, James sought any sign that Nick was waking up. He whimpered again as Nick slept on, unaware.

The nurse that came to tell him visiting hours were over didn't stay long when James growled at her and held Nick even tighter.
