Primeval Drabble: Hope
Title: Hope
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester, Helen Cutter
Rating: 15
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For P100 prompt 695: Inspiration. Part 30 of my Ice Age drabble series and follows Escape?
I gripped onto Helen tightly, having to trust she knew where she was going… and for all I distrusted her, I knew Helen always had a way out, an escape route planned.
As I felt my lungs burn with every breath and knew we were running out of time, I spotted something and paused. Digging my heels in when Helen tugged me forwards.
There!
A flicker of light.
Of hope.
We staggered through and I collapsed to my knees, coughing and gasping as I gulped in lungfuls of crisp, clean air. I blinked blurry eyes before glancing around… Oh fuck!
