Connor sat holding his lover's hand in a tight grip. He couldn't believe he had been so stupid. That he'd been so engrossed in the thrill of discovery that he had forgotten the danger.

He had been frozen to the spot when the creature had charged him and had only been saved by his lover knocking him clear.

The sickening crunch as the beast's tail slammed into his lover's head, the sight of his lover lying motionless and bloodied played over and over in his mind.

Now, Connor could only sit and wait, hoping that his lover would wake up.
