Ryan sighed, he’d had to place the coffee almost under Lester’s nose for him to notice it. “What are you doing?”

Lester inhaled the fumes. “It’s called work.”

“It’s also called past one, James.” When Lester raised an eyebrow, Ryan added, “You shouldn’t be here.”

“I quite agree, unfortunately the minister doesn’t.”

“What’s his opinion on overtime?”

“About the same as mine.” Lester raised a hand. “However, I have a meeting with him in the morning, so needs must.”

Ryan knew he wouldn’t win. “Then you’ll go home?” Before Lester could argue, Ryan played his trump card. “I’m off tomorrow...”
