Nick stared at the gun in Helen’s hand before meeting her eyes. He realised the Helen he’d loved was no more, nothing remained of her but a hollowed out shell, devoid of humanity. His Helen would never have created the clones, never blown up the ARC, certainly she would never threaten him.

He heard the gunshot and expected to feel pain, he even looked down at his chest for the blood and frowned when he saw none. He looked up and saw the shocked expression on Helen’s face before she collapsed to reveal Stephen standing behind her, pistol in hand.
