James Lester slammed the receiver down. Hadn't the minister learnt anything from the last time he'd tried to foist someone onto him? A fleeting grimace crossed Lester's face as he recalled how badly that had ended, with half his team missing and others – including Christine – dead, leading to the closure of the original ARC.

The answer was apparently not, and this time, Lester knew it would be even more of a mess. Oh, Burton might have said he'd leave the running of the ARC to Lester, but considering how much money he'd invested, Lester didn't believe that for one moment.
