Lester turned off the lamp and closed his eyes before opening them to stare into the darkness. Every bloody sound had him tensing, sleep evading his every attempt to find it. He counted his breaths, refusing to panic, to break and give Leek that satisfaction... except he needed sleep, he faced the minister and bloody Christine in the morning.
He cursed and switched on the lamp, his gaze darting around the room for danger before relaxing, safe in the light. Except he now needed to piss and the bathroom was dark, the bulb blown and he hadn't located a replacement.
