He hobbled into the enclosure and stared, the beast was bloody huge. His hand twitched to his hip, before remembering he was unarmed, when it turned towards him, its trunk outstretched. Was it sniffing him?
“He wants his apple.”
He turned at that well-loved voice. “And thinks I have one?”
His lover smiled, patted the trunk and fished an apple out. “He can smell me on you.”
He smiled at the memory of last night, before recalling the scars. “I should have been here for you, James.”
“You were recovering, Tom,” Lester informed him. “And Monty was a great help.”
