A/N: For P100 prompt 538: Rex. For the Rex week of 52 Weeks of Primeval and for my Primeval Bingo Card (round 9) prompt: Abandonment.


Rex trilled hopefully when the cage door was opened, but it wasn't his Abby who walked in. She hadn't been in to see him for weeks, instead he'd been left here with only the mammoth for company.

He recognised the man who entered to the welcoming trumpet of the mammoth. Rex's crest lay flat against his skull as the mammoth was fed an apple. He remembered Abby doing that for him before he'd been abandoned in this cold and dark place.

A hand smoothed down his back but Rex couldn't bring himself to even nibble the offered slice of apple.
