Stephen bore many scars, although the ones which hurt him the most were invisible. Oh, he knew he'd never win a prettiest face award, not even with the expensive plastic surgeon Lester had procured the services of.

Everyone thought those scars bothered him the most, but it was the mental and emotional ones that really caused him the most pain. Once, Stephen had trusted his own judgement but now he second guessed himself constantly.

He hadn't even thought of dating, even if someone could see past the disfiguring scars, betrayal and being betrayed had left him feeling unworthy of love.
