A/N: For P100 prompt 529: Too hot to move. Set in my Under The Moonlight Wolfverse series. Thanks go to Fred for casting her eye over it for me.


Lester padded through the shadows towards the extraction point, his ears flickering back and forth as he sought any sign of danger. He paused when he heard a snap, scenting the air until he found the familiar stench of cordite.

He crept closer on silent paws and barely suppressed a growl when he located the ambush. He had no choice but to return to the safe house, Shifting and knowing the asset wouldn't appreciate being told they were stuck until they were given another exit point. Anything else would be suicide with the number of armed men hunting for them.

Lester says of course he didn't get caught although I doubt the ambushers would have suspected a wolf was one of the men they were looking for.
