Stephen couldn't believe he'd fallen for Helen's lies again. Not just distrusting Nick but believing...

“Stephen?”

“How could I have believed you were the enemy?” Stephen asked, refusing to meet his lover's eyes.

“I've got your blood tests back.” Lester said, an edge to his voice which had Stephen looking at him. “You were drugged.”

“Helen drugged me?” Stephen shook his head. “That doesn't excuse what I did.”

Lester coaxed Stephen to look at him. “Yes it does. Ditzy's run tests on it. It causes the victim to implicitly trust the first person they see. In this case, Helen Cutter.”
