Stephen tried to smile, tried to pretend everything was still OK when it was anything but. Sometimes, though, he could almost forget Helen had revealed all to Nick, that he and Nick were still friends.

Sometimes, but not today when Nick and Connor stood together like that, when Nick had an arm around Connor's shoulder, encouraging him to believe in himself. Just as he had with Stephen and it hurt to see another in his place.

Not that Connor didn't deserve all of Nick's support, his Anomaly Detection Device was an amazing idea, one which would save so many lives.
