“James!”
Lester turned, tensing when his neighbour hurried towards him, smelling of fear. “Jo?”
“Come in for a cup of tea, James,” Jo said, not giving him a choice by grabbing his arm and tugged him towards her house.
“Jo? What's wrong?”
“The neighbourhood watch have noticed people hanging around,” Jo began. “We didn't want to say anything with the park nearby until we were sure...”
“But?” Lester prompted.
“Gwen at number 12 says she's sure they're watching your house.”
Lester barely managed to turn his snarl into a smile. “Thank you for the warning, Jo. I'll deal with it.”
