“No... at least, not yet. There will be an official investigation first.”
“But you tried to stop it.”
“I was... I am the director. That makes it my responsibility.”
“You tried to warn the minister about Burton and he wouldn't listen.”
“Do you really think the minister is going to take the blame? He wants a scapegoat and with Burton dead...”
“So, we tell the committee the truth.”
“It won't work, the minister will make sure they know we're lovers.”
“Plan B.”
“Do I want to know?”
“Soldier-boy recorded your conversation with the minister.”
