Ryan found Lester sitting in his armchair staring blindly at a letter as classical music playing softly in the background. “James?”

Lester looked up, a wry smile on his lips. “One signature and it's over.”

“James?” Ryan asked, worry edging his voice.

“My Decree Absolute.”

“Ah.” There wasn't much Ryan could say to that.

“To think that an entire chapter of my life will no longer exist with a single flourish of my pen.”

Ryan nodded, he remembered how hard it had been to sign, to admit that his marriage was a failure and he knew Lester hated to fail.
