Danny leaned on the balcony railing and looked out over the bustling city, smiling at the noise and milling masses he had grown to miss in the ruined future. He felt arms wrap around his waist and leaned back into the embrace of his lover.
“OK, Danny?” James asked as he pressed a kiss to Danny's neck.
Danny turned in James' arms and kissed him, a soft and needy kiss so unlike the first one they'd shared on his return. “I am now.”
“Yes,” James muttered. “While, I doubt I'd have believed it if you hadn't already told me about it.”
Danny pulled out of his arms slightly, his mouth partly open. “You knew?”
James shrugged. “Apparently I couldn't tell you before you came back from changing the past. I believe Temple was blathering on about something to do with time paradoxes.”
“So...” Danny raised an eyebrow. “You knew we be together and yet let me make a fool of myself?”
“Not entirely.” James smiled at him. “I knew in that future we'd be together, I didn't know if it was just because the world had ended...”
Danny grabbed James' chin and kissed him hard. “You'll never be second best, James. I love you.”
“The feeling is mutual.”
Danny smiled before letting James go. “I don't suppose we've got time for a shag?”
James snorted and glanced at his watch. “Unfortunately not. We, and by we I mean you, have to get ready for Cutter and Hart's wedding.”
Danny gave his lover an evil grin. “I'm not sure I'll be able to keep my hands off you in that suit.”
“Do try to control yourself, Danny.”
“And if I do?” Danny leered at his lover.
“Than you'll let rewarded.”
Danny gave the pretence of thinking about it before sighing dramatically. “Fine.” He gave James a cheeky grin. “Come on then, James. The sooner we're there, the sooner I get my reward.”
James gave a long-suffering sigh before pulling Danny in for a kiss. “Behave, Quinn.”
“Me, guv?” Danny gave his lover his most sincere look. “Always, guv.”
