“Shadow!” Nick yelled when Shadow growled and suddenly charged into a jeweller's.

Nick hurried after him, cursing under his breath when a scared-looking youth dashed out. Once inside, he winced at the shattered display cabinets, the shocked-looking woman and Shadow, looking pleased with himself.

“Oops!” Nick exclaimed, turning apologetically towards the woman, wondering just how much it would cost to reimburse her for the damage. “I'm really sorry...” his voice trailed off when Shadow gave a double bark, obviously refuting responsibility.

“It wasn't him,” the woman said, patting Shadow's head. “He chased off the bloody thief trying to rob me.”
