Danny knew James might not want him; after all, he'd left twice without a word, as though his time with James had meant nothing. “James?”

James looked up, the habitual look of disdain on his face. “Well, look what the cat finally dragged in.”

Danny knew he deserved that, but that knowledge couldn't stop his shoulders slumping in defeat as he turned to leave.

“Oh, for fuck sake, Danny,” James snapped. “Shower and then we'll talk.”

“Just talk?” Danny had to ask, had to push his luck.

“Slowly, Danny.”

Danny smiled, he could live with James wanting to start again.
