Ryan had kept it professional at the shout, even though it was the last thing he'd wanted to do. He'd fought down his jealousy when the professor had taken Connor in his arms, knowing Cutter had only been comforting him, that he didn't know about them.

Once back at their flat, Ryan took one look at Connor before dragging him into a hug and kissing him hard as Connor held him tightly. “I've got you, Con.”

A single sniff was his only warning before Connor began to sob and all Ryan could do was hold him and keep him safe.
