Becker was watching his men herd the civilians – attracted through the anomaly like moths to a flame – towards safety when it had all gone to hell.
A roar had been his only warning before a sharp-toothed dinosaur charged straight for the screaming group. He'd yelled and waved his arms, running when it swerved towards him. His only hope that he'd give his men enough time.
Becker raced for the anomaly when he'd finally lost the creature, only to curse when he was too late. He swore then he'd make it home, that James wouldn't lose another lover to the anomalies.
