Emily had known a return to civilization might mean the loss of her new found freedom to be independent. She could recall only too well how her mother had despaired at her love of the library, wondering how she'd ever find a good husband.

Henry hadn't approved of her interest either, expecting her to agree with him when asked her opinion.

It had been a pleasant surprise to find her new home so different to the world she'd been raised in. To discover that girls were encouraged to learn, to strive and actually have ambitions other than a good marriage.

Thanks, good to know it worked. Emily was, but I don't think she'd have stopped being independent where ever she ended up.

Thanks for reading.

Emily certainly seems far more suited to the modern day than her own time.
