For once in his life, James hoped his team would disregard the many memos he'd written about obeying the rules. He hoped they were already planning how to rescue them, for James feared they wouldn't – couldn't – last much longer.

He could feel the sand biting into his exposed flesh and couldn't help worry that he'd made the wrong choice. That he should have tried to out run the storm rather than seek shelter from it. Except... he knew they would have died, for the storm would have beaten them to the anomaly.

He could only hope his team disobeyed him.
