James smiled when they crested a rise and he could see the anomaly sparkling below them. He tightened his grip on Connor and began their descent, half-sliding in the loose sand. He grabbed Connor when he stumbled and almost took them both down.

A distant howl had James looking up, his eyes widening as the horizon darkened with an approaching dust storm. He glanced between the storm and the anomaly and knew it would be anyone's guess if they reached the anomaly first.

“Leave me,” Connor choked out.

“Never,” James growled out as he half-carried, half-dragged Connor towards the anomaly.

*nods* The injured party does, they don't want their lover to be hurt too.

True, but if he was in better shape, he probably wouldn't tell James to leave him.
