Title: Shifting Sands
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For the P100 challenge 369: Slow And Steady. Part of my Making An Impression drabble series. Thanks goes to Fred for casting her eye over it and for the title.
James paused to look over the landscape of the ruined future, coughing as the toxic air burned his lung with every breath. He glanced at his watch, cursing when he realised it was time to return to the anomaly. He could only hope one of the others had found Connor.
He paused for a final check and gasped when he spotted a dark shape lying motionless. He tried to run before cursing as the traitorous sand shifted beneath his feet. The thought of having to take his time was maddening but injuring himself wouldn't help Connor.
If that was Connor.
