Title: Just This Once
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 101 (oops)
Characters: James Lester
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For the P100 Challenge 136: Secret Santa. Many thanks to Fred for the beta.
Lester bit back his groan at the overly-decorated tree, surrounded by presents.
Of course Connor would think an office Secret Santa was a great idea. That Abby and Sarah had aided and abetted him wasn't a surprise. Becker had followed Sarah's lead, and Danny just threw himself into everything.
Lester found himself longing for the far more refined times when Nick, Jenny and Stephen had provided some much needed sanity to Christmas.
Now only he remained to do that and, for once, Lester just couldn't – they reminded him of his own children and he couldn't spoil their fun. Not now.

Date: 2009-12-10 09:23 am (UTC)The word count is odd, as mine gives it as 100 exactly. I think it depends on how it treats hyphenated words. Mine treats it as one word. Yours is probably counting it as two.

Date: 2009-12-10 11:24 pm (UTC)Figured out the problem - it is counting the dash in the last paragraph as a word - now all I need to figure out is how to stop it.

Date: 2009-12-10 10:44 pm (UTC)And don't worry about the word count - as Fred said I think it's probably counting the hyphenated word as two. And anyway, I do give a bit of leeway if there's only a word or so over :D

Date: 2009-12-10 11:33 pm (UTC)Good to know about the leeway - that last word is often a bugger.
Now, if it was counting the hypenated word as two it would make sense, but no, it is counting the dash in the last paragraph as one. *grr*
