James' eyes darted around as he was assaulted by various images, every choice he'd ever made and subsequently wondered if he'd made the right one. He somehow knew the scythe he held would enable him to change his decisions. He could alter the path his life had taken, but something stopped him.

What would happen if he did? Who would take charge of the anomaly project? Could he really risk the lives of all they'd saved just to have a second chance? James sighed and turned away, those opportunities had long past.

He woke, gasping, and watched the scythe vanish.
