Shadow sat beside Nick and tried to look endearing as the PCSO spoke to his lover. His attention drifted to the rustling vegetation behind the man, his ears twitching as he zeroed in on the sound, knowing what he'd find if he investigated.

He twitched and felt Nick's fingers dig into his ruff as the leaves parted to reveal a squirrel, its back to him as it wagged its tail, almost as if baiting him.

He whined, knowing Nick wouldn't be able to convince the annoying PCSO he was a bloody obedient dog if he chased the bloody tempting squirrel.
