A/N: For the P100 challenge 336: Forgetful. Part 27 of my Strange Bedfellows drabble series and continues on from Signs Of Life.


“I've forgotten how beautiful the world is.”

“James?” Lyle frowned and rested a hand on Lester's forehead.

“I'm fine, Jon.” Lester batted him away. “I mean until you see someone discover it for the first time. Look at him.”

Lyle followed Lester's gaze to the clone before turning back, a puzzled look on his face.

“We've lost the child's wonder at every discovery, Jon. We've become jaded to the world around us, even to the worlds we find through the anomalies. We're becoming trapped in the monotony of life.” He sighed. “And we risk forgetting what we're fighting to protect.”
