Abby couldn't believe her eyes when Lester deliberately attracted the attention of the creature before running off with it hard on his heels. She shook the door but when it remained stubbornly closed, she turned to find another way out and her gaze fell on Connor.

Oh fuck!

It had almost broken Connor when he'd lost Nick and the man hadn't been more than a friend and mentor to him. Losing Lester when the man was his lover would shatter him. Bloody hell, when she caught up with Lester she'd definitely be having words with the stupid, noble, heroic idiot.
