James slowly woke, blinking as full consciousness returned. He carefully looked around his current location – it looked modern – but where was the cub?
“Welcome back, James.”
Abby's voice had James smiling, even more so when she put the cub down and he licked James. She, they were safe – for now, at least. “Where?” He coughed, his throat feeling raw.
Abby helped him drink before hugging him carefully. “We're home. Well... Canada.” She held out a mobile to him. “Ready to call home?”
James took it, careful of his bandaged hands, and blinked back tears when he heard his son's voice.
