Title: Move Or Die
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester, OWC
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For the P100 challenge 289: Headlights on a Dark Road. Part of my Dreams Of Yesterday drabble series and continues from The Storm Breaks. Thanks go to Fred for looking it over for me, cheers m'dear.
As the billowing cloud of choking ash smothered everything beneath a suffocating layer and turned the day into night, James knew he had to move or die – and the cub with him.
James blinked, was that lights he could see within the deepening gloom? He cradled the cub close and painfully crawled forwards, even as he wondered if oxygen-deprivation was making him see things.
James was soon coughing as the air caught in his throat, burning his lungs with each tortured gasp, but he kept moving. He had to try, even though he knew he was likely to fail.
